About the Crypto Futures Profit & Leverage Calculator

Crypto futures on exchanges such as Delta Exchange are traded in lots, and each lot represents a small, fixed amount of the coin. With leverage you only put up a fraction of the position value as margin, so both profits and losses are magnified. At 20x leverage a 1% price move becomes roughly a 20% gain or loss on your margin.

This calculator shows the full picture for one trade: position size in coins and dollars, the margin you need, profit or loss in both US dollars and Indian rupees, return on margin (ROE), trading fees including GST, the break-even exit price and an estimated liquidation price. The payoff chart marks your entry, exit and liquidation levels, and the leverage chart compares the same trade at different leverage levels.

How to use it

  1. Choose the coin – Bitcoin, Ethereum, Gold (PAXG), Solana and more. The lot size and an example price are filled in; change them if your exchange shows something different.
  2. Choose long if you bought first and sold later, or short if you sold first and bought back later.
  3. Choose your leverage from the list, for example 20x.
  4. Enter the quantity in lots (as shown on the exchange) or directly in coins.
  5. Enter the price you bought at and the price you sold at, in dollars.
  6. Enter the USD to INR rate and the trading fee used by your exchange.
  7. Read the results and look at the payoff and leverage charts.

Formula

Position size = Lots × Coin per lot. Position value = Position size × Entry price (the buy price for a long, the sell price for a short). Margin = Position value ÷ Leverage. Profit or loss = (Sell price − Buy price) × Position size. Fees = (Entry value + Exit value) × Fee % × 1.18. ROE = Net P&L ÷ Margin × 100. Estimated liquidation (long) ≈ Entry × (1 − 1 ÷ Leverage + 0.5%); (short) ≈ Entry × (1 + 1 ÷ Leverage − 0.5%).

Example

You go long 100 lots of BTCUSD with 0.001 BTC per lot, so your position is 0.1 BTC. At an entry of $100,000 the position is worth $10,000 and with 20x leverage the margin is $500. If you sell at $102,000, the gross profit is (102,000 − 100,000) × 0.1 = $200. Fees at 0.05% per side plus GST are about $11.92, so the net profit is about $188, a return of about 37.6% on your margin. At ₹85 per dollar that is about ₹15,987. The estimated liquidation price is about $95,500.

Lot sizes for each coin

Each coin has its own contract size, meaning how much of the coin one lot represents. The calculator fills in these defaults when you choose a coin: Bitcoin 0.001 BTC; Ethereum 0.01 ETH; Gold 0.01 PAXG; Solana 1 SOL; XRP 1 XRP; BNB 0.1 BNB; Dogecoin 100 DOGE; Cardano 10 ADA; Litecoin 0.1 LTC; Avalanche 1 AVAX; Chainlink 1 LINK; Polkadot 1 DOT; TRON 100 TRX; Sui 1 SUI. Exchanges can change contract sizes and list new coins, so compare with the contract details shown on your exchange before trading. For any other coin choose "Other coin" and type the contract size yourself.

Gold is traded as PAXG, a token backed by one troy ounce of physical gold, so its price follows the gold price in dollars.

What leverage really does

Leverage does not change how far the price moves; it changes how much of your own money is at stake for that move. At 20x, a 5% move against you wipes out almost your whole margin. At 50x, a 2% move is enough. The leverage chart under the result shows the same trade at 5x, 10x, 20x, 50x and 100x so you can see how quickly the risk grows.

About the liquidation price

If the price moves against you until your margin can no longer cover the loss plus the maintenance margin, the exchange closes your position. The calculator estimates this level using a maintenance margin of 0.5% for isolated margin. Real exchanges use tiered maintenance margins, fees and funding payments, so the actual liquidation price can be somewhat closer to your entry. Always check the liquidation price shown in the exchange before you confirm an order.

Dollars and rupees

Crypto futures prices are quoted in US dollars. Indian exchanges such as Delta Exchange India show balances and profit in rupees using a conversion rate, so the calculator shows both. Enter the rate your exchange uses for an accurate rupee figure.

Taxes in India

Under current Indian rules, gains from transferring virtual digital assets are taxed at a flat 30% plus cess, losses cannot be set off against other income, and 1% TDS applies to many transfers. How these rules apply to crypto derivatives can be complex, so speak to a tax professional. This calculator does not include tax.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the official Delta Exchange calculator?

No. This is an independent calculator and is not affiliated with Delta Exchange. It follows the common lot-based contract format so you can check your numbers.

What is ROE?

Return on equity: your net profit or loss as a percentage of the margin you put in. With leverage it can be many times the price change.

Why does a small price move give a big percentage?

Because of leverage. At 20x, each 1% price move is about 20% of your margin.

Are funding fees included?

No. Perpetual futures also have funding payments every few hours, which can add to or reduce your result.

Is crypto trading risky?

Yes, very. Prices can move sharply in minutes, and high leverage can lead to quick liquidation of your entire margin.
